Last week the Texas Rangers decided to shake things up a bit and brought up Rougned Odor, along with Luis Sardinas to help shake things up in the middle infield.  It wasn’t much of a surprise that Jon Daniels would call up some of the Rangers top prospects to help give the offense and defense some much needed help.

Odor has only played in 5 games/16 at-bats but he quickly got his first major league hit on May 9, 2014 against the Boston Red Sox.  During that game, the Red Sox made sure Rougned Odor got to keep his first hit.  During the game, the ball could be seen on the dugout in the batting helmet shelf.

Last night during the Houston Astros game Odor collected his first major league RBI and his first home run.  The home run was a no-doubter, he crushed the ball, upper decker.  Like his first hit, Odor got to keep his home run ball.

It appeared an usher/security officer found the person that caught the ball and escorted them down to exchange the ball for something.  I’m not sure what the fan got in exchange, but I’m sure it was well worth the home run ball.  And for Odor, what ever he gave in exchange was well worth it.  His first home run ball will mean more to him than the fan that caught it.

Another play that will be a first and only for Rougned Odor was on a play that was supposed to be a routine ground ball.  Odor lined up with ball, the ball took a bounce off the ground and he squared up to the it to block it.  The ball then some how managed to go down his jersey.   It isn’t every day a ball gets struck in a jersey, definitely a first for Odor and probably the last.
