Tonight at 7:05CST the Rangers will face off against the Minnesota Twins in the final game of a three game series. The first game of the series was a  loss at a score of 2-1 with Colby Lewis taking the loss and dropping his record to (4-3 3.41 ERA).  Saturday’s game was not much better with a loss of 8-3.

In yesterday’s game the Rangers sent C.J. Wilson to the mound to face off against Carl Pavano.  Wilson pitched 6 innings giving up four hits, 2 walks and 5 runs with 3 strikeouts.  Wilson has been struggling here as of late, his first 7 starts of the season were all quality starts.  During that span he had a 3-1 win record.

The last three starts he has an 0-2 record giving up a combined 17 earned runs, so he may just be a bad stretch, but he needs to get his stuff straight because he now has a 3-3 record in 10 starts this season.  With last nights lose and the win by the Athletics today the Rangers have now dropped into a tie with the Athletics for first place in the American League West.

If the Rangers lose again tonight the Athletics take the division lead, if the Rangers win the Rangers take the lead outright.  In tonight’s game the Rangers are sending Derek Holland to the mound to face off against Scott Baker.  Holland has appeared in four games thus far this season, three of them starts and holds a 2-0 record with a 2.95 ERA.  In his 3 starts this season he has quality starts in every one of them.

Baker has a 4-4 record with a 4.48 ERA in 10 starts this season.  In his last outing against the Yankees he took a no-decision pitching 5 innings only giving up 3 hits and no earned runs.  The Twins are looking to sweep and the Rangers are looking to take back the lead in the West, so tonight’s game should be fought hard on both sides and lets hope the Rangers avoid a sweep.
