Elvis Andrus Out for Tuesday’s Exhibition Game Against Los Angeles Angels

The Texas Rangers will go up against the Los Angeles Angels today in Tempe, Arizona, but it will be without their shortstop Elvis Andrus due to the reporting of back soreness/stiffness. While it does not appear to be serious, he will sit this one out just to make sure. Andrus had said that he could and would make the trip and be part of the team today, Washington advised otherwise. There is really no reason to take any chances, but he will be penciled back in for Wednesday’s Spring Training Cactus League game against the Oakland Athletics unless his back hasn’t improved.

For the past three games, all the veteran starters have started. Most of these players will get some rest today with only three of Rangers’ starters making Tuesday’s lineup – Mitch Moreland, Julio Borbon and what would have been Elvis Andrus.

Andrus will be replaced in the lineup by Leury Garcia. Here is the full lineup for today’s game against the Angels:

CF Julio Borbon
SS Leury Garcia
LF David Murphy
C MIke Napoli
DH Mitch Moreland
3B Esteban German
1B Jose Ruiz
RF Craig Gentry
2B Andres Blanco

RHP Hurley is expected to pitch three innings today for the Rangers.
