In the wake of the 18-3 demolishing the Red Sox took at the hands of the Texas Rangers this short two game series will end tonight. Derek Holland will be on the mound for the Rangers in his third start of the year. His 1-0 record accompanies his 3.38 ERA, but perhaps the best stat to look at for this short season is his 3 walks compared to 15 strikeouts. Holland has shown the ability to be dominant season but he needs to be consistent to do it. The Rangers are 9-2 on the year, and tonight’s game is game 12 of the year.

At AAA Round Rock Express RHP Greg Reynolds will be on the hill. While this will be his 3rd start of the year it will be his first that has not been against the Iowa Cubs. Reynolds is 0-1 on the year with a 5.25 ERA. In the 12 innings he has pitched this season he has allowed 7 runs on 13 hits including 3 homeruns. With the 4-2 victory last night over the Omaha Storm Chasers they improved their record to 5-8 for the year. Tonight’s game against Omaha will be game 14 of the season.

AA Frisco RoughRiders are off today. But yesterday’s loss to the Arkansas Travelers brings the ‘Riders to 8-4 this year.

Tonight the Advanced A Myrtle Beach Pelicans wrap up the series against the Winston-Salem Dash. RHP Roman Mendez will be looking to shake off his last start and return to the dominance that he had in his first start of the year. In his 2nd start of the year he went a mere 3.1 innings before he was pulled after being rocked 5 runs on 7 hits. In his first game he had 9 strikeouts but that number fell to a single strikeout in his second game. With the 10-4 trouncing the Dash took last night the Pelicans are now 6-5. The Pelicans are going for the sweep of the Dash tonight which is game 12 of the year.

A Hickory Crawdads are also going for a sweep tonight, theirs against the Kannapolis Intimidators. On the mound will be Jerad Eickhoff who like Roman Mendez is looking to shake off a bad 2nd start. In his April 13th start against the Asheville Tourists, Eickhoff only went 4.2 innings allowed 7 runs on 7 hits. His walks to strikeouts ratio of 1:5 is promising. Yesterday’s win moves the ‘Dads to 8-5 on the year. Tonight will be game 14 of the year and will be the last home game until April 24th.

Good luck tonight.

As Always Go Rangers.
