5. Martin Perez needs to avoid the sophomore slump. With the injury to Derek Holland being as bad as it is, it is vital that Perez have a great season for the Texas Rangers. If he falters, like Harrison, the margin for error is too small for the Texas Rangers to succeed if that happens. They need Perez to keep his team in just about every game that he pitches, trusting that his offense will come through for him. If he can keep his ERA under 4, I believe that he will have a successful season, and so will the Rangers.
