Texas Rangers Opening day – 5 reasons to be excited
By David Cash

3 Tanner Scheppers vs Cliff Lee
This isn’t the pitching duel that Texas Rangers fans were hoping for, but it should still be a good one to watch. Scheppers joins a small list of pitchers that had their first start in the majors on Opening day. The last one was Fernando Valenzuela in 1981. Fernando had a similar background as Tanner Scheppers. He had been in the bullpen in the year before and was pretty effective. Fernando managed to get the win that day. Tanner Scheppers has been doing very well in spring training and should get the win also.
Scheppers has an ERA of 3.07 over 4 games/14.2 innings with 14 strike outs.
