The Texas Rangers had a rough go yesterday when it comes to stopping the Phillies. The team ERA after one day of play sits at 14.00. That is not so good, but it is only one game out of 162 they will play in 2014. So that leaves the Texas Rangers and their fans wondering, can Martin Perez get the Texas Rangers back on track?
Martin Perez was the pitcher we all hoped he would be in 2013, coming in and showing why he was one of the Texas Rangers top pitching prospects and why the Texas Rangers did not want to let him go. In 2013, Martin Perez was 10-6 with a 3.62 ERA in 20 starts, and he finished the season very strong. Martin Perez also had a so-so spring training, but I have faith that Martin Perez is not going to have a sophomore slump. I expect that Perez will get the Texas Rangers back on track tonight and even their record against the Phillies. Perez is a young pitcher, but he is a pitcher that has been there and done that before, unlike Tanner Scheppers last night. I also have the feeling that Scheppers can figure it out after another start or two, but I am not sure that he will get that chance once Colby Lewis and Matt Harrison are ready to go.
What do I expect from Martin Perez tonight? I expect six innings, 5 hits an 2 runs, and I expect the Texas Rangers to be leading when he comes out of the game. Now I just hope that the bull pen can hold that lead and win one for the Texas Rangers! Enjoy the game tonight!
