The Texas Rangers had plenty of opportunities to lose to the Astros last night, but they just couldn’t seem to pull the trigger. They stranded 13 runners from the sixth inning on, and were 1-15 with runners in scoring position. Despite all that, the Texas Rangers found a way to finally push a run across thanks to a Kevin Kouzmanoff single and eventually a two out hit by Robinson Chirinos that was the walk-off game winner.

Yu Darvish was perfect through 5 innings, and the bull pen was also very good last night, as the team only allowed 2 hits total. They were dominating on everything but scoring runs.

“They never lost focus,” manager Ron Washington said of his team, which won despite leaving 16 runners on base. “So it was just a matter of, keep putting yourself in position. Our bullpen came in and did a good job and kept giving us an opportunity and we finally broke through. We had chances all night.” texasrangers.com

Hopefully, the Texas Rangers will find a way to get those runners home tonight if they can get them on. All in all it was an entertaining game, but I would prefer that the Texas Rangers score a little more than that if they are going to get on base that many times. The positive is that they still won, so at least there is that. The Texas Rangers take on the Astros again today.
