Shin-Soo Choo had a small slump which included a game where he struck out a record tying 5-times in one game. But,lately he’s been red-hot and hitting the ball well. He has hit safely in 6 of 7 last games (9-24) for an average of .375. He has an on-base percentage of .429. The Rangers signed him hoping he would be a perfect candidate for the lead-off position and he’s be able to deliver so far this season.
Hitting lefties: Choo historically hasn’t batted well against lefties. He has a career average of .247. This year he’s started off very well, in fact he’s hitting lefties better than he’s hitting right-handed pitchers.
Baseball reference splits stats for 2014
Shin-Soo Choo seems to have the eagle eye for walks and for timely hits. To add to his value as a Ranger, he currently has 7 RBI and 1 stolen base. If he can keep this up all season, the Rangers should be able to score early and give the starting pitchers some breathing room.
