Texas Rangers RHP Nick Tepesch was scheduled to pitch today for the triple-A Round Rock Express but instead will pitch in Martin Perez spot next week.

This move allows the Rangers to start Tepesch to pitch on Wednesday and will push back Yu Darvish to Friday.

The Rangers pitching staff has been band-aided together since the start of the season mainly due to the injuries and setbacks with Colby Lewis, Matt Harrison, Joe Ortiz and Derek Holland.

Nick Tepesch will be the 9th different starter for the Rangers this season.  They only had to use 11 starts last year.  Also, the Rangers only used 24 different pitchers last season, now with Tepesch they’ll have used 22 this season.

When spring training started, it seemed like Tepesch was in line to make the starting rotation, but he struggled over 3 games/11 innings he posted a sky-high 11.25 ERA.  He was charged with 19 hits, 10 runs and 1 home run during that time.

He has played considerably better since joining triple-A Round Rock.  Over 7 starts he has an outstanding ERA of 1.58 with a record of 6-1.  He recorded 41 strikeouts and only walked 9.  Tepesch could be the injection the starting rotation needs.
