Once again Joey Gallo and Jorge Alfaro have been selected to the MLB Futures game during All Star break in Minnesota. This is the second consecutive year these two have been selected to play in the futures game, though neither played last year due to injury. For those of you unable to attend many minor league games and with great access to watching many minor league stars, this is a great opportunity to watch two of Texas’ most heralded prospects play on national television against some of the other 29 club’s top prospects.
This was announced today via the MLB Futures Game Twitter account
Some national writers have some reaction about Gallo and advice for fans going to the game.
Unfortunately Gallo and Alfaro are the only two Texas prospects that will be making the game. This will be a great time to watch two of the most exciting guys in the minors show their stuff. Gallo always has a habit of showing up big in big moments so I would not be surprised to see him blast a moonshot to kingdom come during the game. Remember this? Alfaro has one of the strongest arms among minor league catchers and I would love to see him gun down a speedy and overconfident baserunner or backpick a careless one off at first. That would be great. Alfaro already played in an all star game this year (Carolina league all star game) and hit a triple. His bat also has some muscle to it. The game will be played on Sunday July 13th at Target Field at 4:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. I hope you can wait til then because it’s going to be a show.
