As I start looking at some Texas Rangers trade rumors, I thought I would start off by looking at Alex Rios trade rumors. According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Kansas City Royals have interest in Texas Rangers outfielder Alex Rios. The Royals are looking to try and get back into the race in the centeral, and the believe an established corner outfielder like Alex Rios would be a good fit according to Heyman.
Heyman also reports that the Blue Jays are showing some interest in their former player.
So if the Texas Rangers were going to make a trade with the Royals for Alex Rios, who should we expect back in return? I’m glad you asked. For each of the MLB trade rumors articles I am going to write over the next week or so, I will give you who I think the Texas Rangers should ask for and who I think they can actually get.
Who they should ask for: The Texas Rangers should swing for the fences from the Royals when looking to trade Alex Rios. Royals: The Rangers should ask for Yordano Ventura, who is the Royals number 2 prospect according to BaseballAmerica.com. Ventura has been with the Royals major league club for most of this season and he has an ERA of 3.59 in 18 starts for the Royals. Of course the Royals are not going to be willing to give him up, so I think the Rangers should settle for two or three lower minor league prospects.
Miguel Almonte RHP – Miguel is at high A ball and is 5-6 with a 4.96 ERA, he has 83 K’s and 27 walks. He is still a few years away, but I could live with him along with
Bubba Starling 3B – Why a third baseman you may ask? Because he is considered the best athlete in the Royals top ten prospects, and the Texas Rangers are all about compiling athletes. He has a line of .215/.299/.337 with 7 hr and 44 RBI. Again a low prospect, but it never hurts to have too many of those guys! MLB Trade Rumor time is upon us, so here we go!
