Derek Holland Close to Return
By Ben Dieter

Derek Holland threw 87 pitches in his most recent rehab start for the Round Rock Express, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits, three walks and striking out seven. He made it into the sixth inning. The Rangers do not feel the need to rush Derek Holland with the way the season is going, and that is understandable, but Derek is ready to return to the Rangers rotation.
"“I feel like I’m ready, but that’s up to them,” Derek Holland said according to the Texas Rangers website. “I can’t decide too much. They have to figure out what the call is. I’m ready. The whole thing down there was just making sure I could finish and go as long as I could. I feel good.”"
I know that Derek Holland is itching to return to the Rangers rotation, and he is really wanting to feel like a part of the 2014 Texas Rangers, something he has not felt like at all this season. It doesn’t matter to these players if the team is having a successful season or not, they still want to contribute. Derek Holland is a competitor and he wants to get back out there.

According to Mike Maddux, Derek Holland’s next outing is “to be determined”, but it is doubtful that it will be with the Texas Rangers. My guess would be that we will see Derek Holland when the September callups happen, and until then, he needs to continue to get stronger and better and rehab for the 2015 season.
