Colby Lewis, Rangers Sweep Braves

It has been quite a long time since the Texas Rangers were able to pull out the brooms, but they did so today against the Braves behind some great pitching from Colby Lewis and a strong day at the plate for Luis Sardinas.

“Of course it was a good day for me,” Sardinas said according to texasrangers.com. “The first thing is I was having a good day with my at-bats. It’s been a long time since we’ve scored that many runs. For us to have men on base and bring them in was something we haven’t done lately so that was a good day.”

Colby Lewis went seven strong allowing just one solo home run. He earned his tenth win of the season.

This team is impressing me so far in September, even though their record isn’t great, they are looking like they are going to finish strong. The only down thing from today is Michael Choice, who was finally starting to look comfortable at the plate, injured his hamstring during the game on a double. He will undergo an MRI tomorrow to see what the extent of the damage is.

The Texas Rangers now have 12 games left, all against AL West opponents, and 9 of them against the top two teams in the west. The Ranger have the chance to spoil the Athletics playoff hopes, but it is unlikely that they could win both series against the A’s.

The Rangers have the day off tomorrow to enjoy their three game winning streak, and then it is off to Oakland and Anaheim. Let’s Go Rangers!
