Nick Martinez and the Rangers Win Again
Nick Martinez was brilliant last night in his performance against the Houston Astros, holding them to no runs through 6 2/3 innings.
“I thought this could have been his best performance in the fact that I liked how he handled himself on the mound,” Tim Bogar said after the game according to texasrangers.com. “Early in the season, you could see him let the game speed up on him and tonight he didn’t allow that to happen. He had a couple of tough situations that he got out of tonight and it just shows his maturity.”
Nick Martinez is trying to make a case for himself to be part of the rotation in 2015, and last night was a mighty fine case. Nick has really struggled at home this season, he has a home ERA that is much higher than his road ERA. He said after the game that he had a talk with Greg Maddux after the game in Anaheim and he tried some adjustments that Greg suggested.
The Rangers are the hottest team in baseball right now, and they are once again fun to watch. I am actually looking forward to watching the last five games of the season and seeing how strongly they can finish in the month of September. I am proud to be a Texas Rangers fan, and performances like the one we saw from Nick Martinez last night just lead me to believe that this team is going to be alright going forward.
The Rangers have a ton of young talent, including Nick Martinez, Nick Tepesch, Joey Gallo, Brett Nicholas, Robinson Chirinos, Michael Choice and many others. 2015 should be a fun season for Texas Rangers fans!
