In watching a lot of Texas Rangers baseball this season, I came to really appreciate what a talent Rougned Odor really is at second base. I will admit that I miss Ian Kinsler and I still like the guy, even though he said some negative things about Jon Daniels after he left, and I thought that it would take a very long time to replace him at second base. Rougned Odor played in 114 games for the Texas Rangers, and he looked good doing it most of the time.
Rougned Odor had a line of .259/.297/.402 with 9 home runs and 48 RBI in 386 at bats. Odor made 9 errors all season, but I would expect that from a 20 year old rookie. When Rougned Odor established himself as the everyday second baseman on this club, I felt like they became a slightly better team. He may not have played well in ever single game he played in, but he did play well over the course of the season.
The question during the off season that really needs to be asked is what do the Rangers do with Jurickson Profar now that Rougned Odor has to be the frontrunner for the second base job going forward. The Rangers have some tough decisions to make, and Profar seems to be making those decisions easier by never being healthy. I am looking forward to seeing Rougned Odor take on an entire major league season at second base, and I have a feeling that most Texas Rangers fans agree with me. Rougie is the real deal, and is nice to know that second base is covered for the foreseeable future.
