Roman Mendez Winter ball Update

Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Roman Mendez is one of many players getting extra experience this winter ball.  Mendez played this offseason in the Dominican Winter Leagues for the Toros del Este.  Mendez had a 0.84 ERA with 9 strikeouts over 13 games/10.2 innings pitched during offseason ball.

During the regular season he pitched in 30 games/33.0 innings pitched for the Texas Rangers and had a 2.18 ERA with 22 strikeouts.  Several times during the season he had very good command and managed to position the Rangers to hold the opponents.

Which should have resulted in a few wins, but the offense and defense at times was absolutely awesome.  Granted it wasn’t great because of the injures, not due tot he lack of talent on the team.

I expect Roman Mendez to return next season and be a pitcher the Rangers use early in relief.  He proved he’s able to it last season, but never was really able to show what he could do because of the team around him.  Next season he should be surrounded by All-star players such as Prince Fielder, Shin-Soo Choo, Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre.
