The Texas Rangers were a wee bit busy this week as they acquired three players, traded four and DFA’d one.
Rangers Rundown:
- January 19 – Texas sends right-handed pitcher Corey Knebel, infielder Luis Sardinas and right-handed pitcher Marcos Diplan to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Yovani Gallardo and cash considerations.
- January 20 – The Rangers acquire right-handed pitcher Gonzalez Germen from the New York Yankees for cash considerations.
- January 21 – The Texas Rangers sent minor league right-handed pitcher Akeem Bostick to the Houston Astros for catcher Carlos Corporan, and DFA Gonzalez Germen to make room on the 40-man roster.
This might be the most action Rangers fans are treated to before the season begins. But the Rangers aren’t the only American League West team giving fans just enough to keep us tide over until spring training starts. Take a look at what is happening around the American League West this week.

SWINGIN’ A’s (Oakland Athletics):
Tony Frye lays out the complications and stipulations on the A’s moving, and why they should move. This is something I can attest to, O.Co is no place for a Major League Baseball, heck any team, to play. Put aside the hatred most of you have for the A’s, just for a second, and think about the issues the Coliseum has. If you went to see the Rangers play there and it happened to rain, even a little, your money would be wasted because you wouldn’t stay. Trust me.

Even though the Rangers haven’t made a BIG splash this offseason I don’t really think they needed to. But it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if we added another arm or two.
