Baseball fans love numbers. Baseball fans love records. We love tracking players as they inch closer to hitting a milestone. All of the Texas Rangers players are in Surprise, Arizona. We can officially begin the countdown to the 2015 season!

This season should prove exciting for everyone, especially those in the American League West division as each team looks to be fiercely competitive in 2015.

But, for those of you who are like me and enjoy keeping tabs on players who could potentially hit a milestone it will be especially exciting. While there are plenty of MLB milestones to track, I wanted to take a look at our favorite team’s players-to-track list.

Don’t worry, I’ll throw in a few of the players in all of MLB to keep an eye on.

When it comes to reaching offensive milestones we can just call it the ‘Elvis and Adrian’ show. Which really isn’t all that surprising, is it? Martin does make two appearances on the list though. Let’s dig in.

RUNS SCORED:

When Adrian Beltre scores his 425th run with the Texas Rangers he will be ranked 15th, tying Dean Palmer. Beltre already has 344 runs and only needs 81 more to do so. To tie the Texas Rangers 9th all-time leader Frank Howard (544), Elvis Andrus (504) needs just 40 runs scored.

Andrus needs 101 hits to tie Buddy Bell (1060) for 11th all-time leader. Beltre (715) will tie Ed Brinkman for 15th with his 868th hit in a Rangers uniform.

DOUBLES:

Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus are in a close race to tie 14th all-time leader Pete O’Brien (161) for doubles. Andrus (142) leads Beltre (131) by merely 11 doubles. This should be a fun competition (friendly, of course) to see it play out through the season.

TRIPLES:

Leonys Martin is short 5 triples before he is ranked 17th all-time leader, tying Bump Wills and Frank Howard with 20. In order to tie for 3rd with Chuck Hinton for 30 triples, Elvis Andrus simply needs to hit two triples by the end of the season. I believe Andrus is more than capable of achieving this.

HOME RUNS:

Adrian Beltre is 7 home runs shy of tying the 15th Texas Rangers all-time leaders Pete Incaviglia and Toby Harrah with 124. Considering Beltre hit 19 in 2014, I see him going well above 124 homers this season.

RBI:

When Beltre drives in his 397th run he will tie Will Clark as the 20th all-time RBI leader. But, if he can hit 54 RBI he will rank 18th alongside Dean Palmer.

STOLEN BASES:

When Elvis Andrus swipes his 8th stolen base of the season – and let’s face it, we know he will – it will set a Texas Rangers record-high 200 stolen bases.

Leonys Martin currently has 70 stolen bases, and in all likelihood tie the 15th (Ivan Rodriguez, 81), 13th (Michael Young, 89) and 8th (Tom Goodwin, 93) all-time leaders.

WINS:

When Yu Darvish earns his 10th win of the season he will join Matt Harrison as the 15th all-time Rangers win leader with 49. Colby Lewis needs only one win while Derek Holland needs four to tie Danny Darwin as the 10th all-time leader.

INNINGS PITCHED:

Nolan Ryan is the 14th all-time Texas leader for innings pitched at 840, and Derek Holland only needs to pitch 21 innings to tie him. Colby Lewis is projected to hit a career milestone for 1000 innings pitched on September 27 at Minute Maid Park per MLB.com.

SAVES:

Neftali Feliz is just 13 saves away from reaching a career-high 100 saves. Before seeing him in action at the end of 2014, I would have scoffed at the idea of putting him on the milestones ‘Must Watch’ list. However, I did see Nefti. And, this Feliz looked very familiar. He has found his confidence again. He is at camp looking 10 pounds lighter and setting the bar high for himself. I think this is more than within his reach.

STRIKEOUTS:

Derek Holland (682) and Yu Darvish (680) are in a tight race to tie Colby Lewis as the 7th all-time strikeout leader with 718.

Interestingly enough, Colby Lewis and Yu Darvish could both reach 742 strikeouts before the season ends, which would have them tied with Texas Rangers 6th all-time leader Kevin Brown.

As you can see, I’m more than ready to the season started. I’m ready to walk through the Cathedral gates that is the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, a.k.a Globe Life Park – I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to call it that.

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about that MLB Milestone list I promised. I even made a table for you. But I must confess, I left Alex Rodriguez out intentionally. I just couldn’t put him on the list.

[table id=24 /]

I’m really excited to see Nefti be a force on the mound that I know he can be. Same goes for Lewis. I don’t think anyone, not even Colby, expected him to have the comeback season he did in 2014. Let alone set to reach and maybe even surpass both career and team milestones in 2015.

What about you? Who are you excited to watch hit a milestone this season?
