Texas Rangers 2017 Positional Breakdown: Second Base

Jurickson Profar
Once a top prospect, Jurickson Profar will be battling to find a spot in the starting lineup this spring. Making his Major-League debut in 2012 it’s hard to believe Profar will still only be 24 years-old heading into 2017.
Struggling with injuries early in his career and struggling to find consistent playing time in 2016, Profar has an uphill battle in 2017. Upon getting called up to fill in for the suspended Rougned Odor in May, Profar was on fire.
Hitting .323 in the first half of the season it appeared as though Jurickson Profar had finally arrived. Unfortunately, Profar came back down to earth in a big way. Struggling to find consistent playing time, Profar hit .166 in 145 second half at-bats.
At this point in his career, Profar’s most redeemable trait is his ability to play anywhere. He played 5 positions for the Rangers in 2017, expect to see him in the same super utility role this upcoming season.
