Texas Rangers: 5 Questions Heading Into The 2017 Season
By Andrew Webb

Can the veteran players have bounce back seasons?
The Rangers are expecting bounce back years from quite a few players. Outfielders Carlos Gomez, and Shin-Soo Choo are two the must have rebounds in 2017. Losing outfielder Ian Desmond in free agency Has put a bigger role on the shoulders of Gomez.
The 2016 campaign was a struggle for Gomez until he came to Texas. He hit .284/.362/.543 with eight home runs and 24 RBI in 33 games. A small sample size for Gomez, but enough for Rangers fan to believe he can bounce back.
Gomez needs to be a leader at the top of the batting order, but he’s not the only one that needs to perform. Choo only played 48 games in 2016, and couldn’t stay off the disabled list. Signed through the 2020 season, the Rangers need Choo to stay on the field.
Recently signed Andrew Cashner is looking for a turn around after a horrendous campaign a year ago. A.J. Griffin didn’t see much success in 2016, and both pitchers play important roles in the Rangers rotation.
Both Cashner and Griffin will need to find a way to stay off the disabled list. The Rangers rotation lacks reliable depth, and both starters need to stay healthy. Luckily the Rangers have plenty of pitching options, but their lack of success keeps them as insurance.
These veteran need to step up and help the Rangers in 2017. They don’t need to have All-Star campaigns, but if they continue to pile up DL stints the team could be in trouble. The good news is that everyone is healthy and ready for Spring Training. The Rangers look to win another division title in 2017, and these players play a major role in that.
