MLB Power Rankings: Post Opening Weekend
By Kenneth Nash

Miami Marlins. 25. team. 82. The Marlins split their opening series of the season…against the Cubs. Despite this, the Marlins are very likely going to be the worst team in baseball this season having traded away two franchise players in Stanton and Yelich this offseason.. (2-2). Previous: n/ath
21. The Rays have a fairly deep farm system but have parted ways with the majority of their top tier talent. Tampa Bay dropped 3 of 4 to the Red Sox to start the season however all 3 losses were by just a run. Still, this team doesn’t figure to be very high in the standings come the trade deadline.. (1-3). Previous: n/ath. Tampa Bay Rays. 24. team
(1-3). Previous: n/ath. Oakland Athletics. 23. team. 96. Oakland doesn’t figure to be a big concern in the playoff race and surely won’t compete for a division title. The team dropped 3 of 4 to the Angels to open the year and showed that while their is some veteran potential, this team just doesn’t have the top to bottom depth to be a contender.
San Francisco Giants. 22. team. 40. The Giants have a rotation and lineup that can compete on any given night. That’s proven by a series split with the Dodgers to open the year including a win in the season opener with LA ace, Clayton Kershaw on the mound. That being said, injury issues can ravage this team and has in the past. Despite the potential, the Giants just can’t keep up with the Dodgers this season.. (2-2). Previous: n/ath
Previous: n/ath. Pittsburgh Pirates. 21. team. 4. The Pirates actually won all 3 of their games to start the season. However, those wins came against an abysmal Tigers team and the Pirates still are a couple of seasons away from their future stars from truly being stars.. (3-0)
