Texas Rangers All-Time All-Star 25-Man Roster
By Travis Koch

Utility Players
4th outfielder: Al Oliver
Utility Infielders: Elvis Andrus and Buddy Bell
Backup catcher: Jim Sundberg
Al Oliver was the odd man out in the starting outfield; therefore, he is the utility outfielder. Oliver played four seasons with the Rangers (1978-1981) and is the franchise leader in batting average at .318.
Very few of the players on this special 25-man roster played their entire career in a Texas Rangers uniform. While Elvis Andrus‘ career is not over, he without a doubt projects as a career Ranger. He is now in his 10th year with Texas and he has taken on the role as the face of the franchise basically ever since Michael Young left.
Buddy Bell played with the Rangers from ’79-’84 and then retired with them in ’89. He was a five-time MLB All-Star and was known equally for his heroics at the plate and at the hot corner.

Jim Sundberg played 12 of his 16 Major League Baseball seasons with the Texas Rangers. If it weren’t for the Rangers having arguably the greatest catcher in the game’s history (Pudge Rodriguez), Sundberg would be a shoe-in as the franchise’s all-time starting catcher.
