Madison Bumgarner

Another man who needs no introduction… Madison Bumgarner.

It’s difficult to compare the resumes of an offensive player and a pitcher, but there is no doubt Bumgarner and Arenado are at the top of their respective classes.

The 10-year veteran has a career ERA of 3.03. He’s thrown over 200 innings and struck out over 190 hitters in six of his 10 seasons. He’s won three World Series, an NLCS MVP, and has been selected to four All-Star teams.

It may not be pertinent to the Texas Rangers, but it’s worth noting that Bumgarner has also won two silver slugger awards. He swings the bat well enough to triumph full-time offensive players as pinch hitters.

The 29-year-old hasn’t lost any steam. Despite missing a good chunk of the 2018 season, he still managed a 3.26 ERA over 21 starts.

He has certainly benefited from pitching in perhaps the most pitcher-friendly ballpark in MLB for nearly half of his career starts. Even so, Bumgarner has a .554 winning percentage and a 3.35 ERA in his career on the road.

The San Francisco Giants owe him just $12 million this year. You’d have to imagine he’ll be worth much more on an annual basis once he hits the market.
