The Future

Usually, when a team is in a rebuilding phase, they have quite a few prospects up in the majors for the fans to watch grow. Unfortunately, the Rangers traded their young talent when they were still competing, and don’t really have many young guys ready for the majors, especially on the pitching side.

But 3 years from now, the Rangers seem poised to have quite a few good arms ready or on the cusp of being ready. Hans Crouse, Cole Ragans, Cole Winn, Owen White, and more. With an offense that is already full of young guys 26 and under (Deshields, Mazara, Odor, Guzman, Kiner-Falefa, Gallo, and Calhoun), it seems like this team should be ready to return to the AL West spotlight, as the Astros may have to let some players go, and not every top 100 prospect is going to be an All-Star, or even have good careers.

If this group of talent previously mentioned fails to win anything, then we can talk about replacing JD, but for now, it seems like some people are just getting frustrated with how poorly the team has done, and are making blaming JD for it. It is very hard to consistently win and make the playoffs in baseball, and we are very fortunate to have this great run of winning games from 2009-16. Two years seem to like it’s been forever since we have made the playoffs, but we could be like the Mariners, and have a 17 year (and counting) playoff drought.

With everything being said, Jon Daniels has done a pretty darn good job as the Rangers GM and has helped lead this team to its greatest times in franchise history, and as fans, we should feel confident in our future with him running the show.
