Joey Gallo

Entering 3rd full season: 5.3 WAR .203 BA, 88 HR, .317 OBP, 187 RBI, .815 OPS, Free Agent in 2023.

It seems as if we know exactly what we are going to get every year from Joey Gallo. We know he is going to hit for power and draw quite a few walks. He’s also going to strikeout a lot and hit for a low average. Gallo has proven to be a terrific defender all throughout the field. He can play first base, third base, and anywhere in the outfield.

Contract Verdict: SIGN

Joey Gallo has elite power, and if the Texas Rangers can get Rougned Odor to continue what he was doing for the second half of last season, Gallo would be a much better fit in the lineup. Gallo’s power helps him fit pretty much anywhere. If the rest of the lineup can reduce their strikeouts, his strikeouts will not carry as much of a burden. Plus, it’s always nice to have guys who can play multiple positions like Gallo and Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
