The Texas Rangers are sending 2B Rougned Odor to the IL with a right knee sprain. They are now without their starting right side of the infield.
Per T.R. Sullivan, Texas Rangers’ second baseman Rougned Odor is headed to the IL with a sprained right knee. He was a late scratch from last night’s lineup and it seems the injury is serious enough to cause him to miss at least 10 days.
Odor was not playing well. He began 3-for-8 in the first two games against the Chicago Cubs, and has since gone 4-for-38. All together, he’s hitting .167 with a .255 OBP and .470 OPS. He’s second on the team with 15 strikeouts and he’s yet to hit a home run in 42 at-bats.
Texas has purchased the contract of 28-year-old Danny Santana from Triple-A Nashville. Santana can play infield and outfield, but he’ll obviously be used on the dirt most often throughout this stint.
The Rangers will have to get creative with the right side of their infield with Odor and Ronald Guzman on the IL. Logan Forsythe will spend time at second base and first base. Matt Davidson will get reps at first base and Santana will get reps at second base as well.
I’d like to say the lineup will take a hit, but Odor wasn’t exactly making a positive impact, at least not from an output standpoint. Hopefully some rest and recovery will get him turned around.
