As the Texas Rangers hosted a tour of Globe Life Field today, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred noted that Arlington could soon host an All-Star Game.

The Texas Rangers gave an update on Globe Life Field today to a number of reporters and guests. Among those attending was Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred who noted that the Rangers could host an All-Star Game in the near future. Mac Engel of the Star-Telegram tweeted out the news Tuesday afternoon.

For the Rangers, this is would be a big positive as they look to establish Globe Life Field as a premier ballpark in the MLB. The commissioner also plans to attend Opening Day in Arlington as noted above.

While this feels like standard operating procedure from Rob Manfred as he helps promote a Major League team taking a big step of transition into a state of the art ballpark, it is nice as a Rangers fan to get some national publicity. The Rangers feel like they are headed to re-entering the national scene in terms of branding and with the product they put on the field.

Reports by the club today announced that construction of the Rangers new home was about 85 percent completed and would be finished well in time for opening. Texas also announced some of the seating options for the new park including an increase in the availability of premium seat options.

Globe Life Field is set to open on March 14th, 2020 when they host a country music concert featuring the likes of Chris Stapleton and Willie Nelson. The first time baseball will be played in the new park is March 23rd when Texas hosts the St. Louis Cardinals in an exhibition.
