Texas Rangers-Oakland A’s most recent trade: August 31, 2020

If you thought the Rangers and Angels have encountered one other frequently on the trade market over the years, get ready for even more intra-division interaction between Texas and Oakland.

The Rangers and Athletics have made 35 trades with each other over the years, a pretty astounding number given how often they face each other during the season.

That familiarity factor hasn’t dismayed either organization, though, and they’re not afraid to chase after bigger names, either.

Most recently, the Texas Rangers sent LHP Mike Minor to Oakland at the 2020 trade deadline in exchange for two prospects, Dustin Harris and Marcus Smith.

While Minor had a down 2020 in comparison to his 2019 campaign in Arlington, the Rangers were able to turn a half-season of Minor’s services into two prospects from a division rival.

Not too shabby.

And 35 total trades made between the Texas Rangers and Oakland A’s would seem to indicate a strong possibility of another one on the horizon.
