Texas Rangers third base options: Start Sherten Apostel

Sherten Apostel may not be a top-10 prospect in the Texas Rangers’ system, but that doesn’t say anything less about his upside.

The 22-year-old received his big-league call up in 2020, getting 20 big league at-bats with the Rangers.

Apostel has been developed as a third baseman during his minor league journey, but a lack of range at the position has some scouts believing he’ll end up at first base one day.

For now, though, the Curacao native has enough athleticism to handle the rigors of third base.

If he hits well in Spring Training, those two factors could be enough to convince Chris Woodward to nab Apostel as his bridge third baseman until Jung arrives.

Considering that he’s an in-house option, Apostel would certainly appear to have a natural edge when it comes to securing the third base job.

When it’s all settled, it’s possible we could see Apostel handing off to Jung at third base over the summer.
