The Texas Rangers finally won a series for the first time since the end of July by taking two games out of three against the Oakland Athletics at home this past weekend. However, the Rangers got swept by the Mariners at home this week.
DJ Peters showed he belongs on this team by hitting 3 home runs this week. Also, the Frisco RoughRiders showed they will most likely win the league championship with the offense they showed early in the month of August.
Texas Rangers Weekly Report: Who”s Hot
DJ Peters
DJ Peters showed why the Rangers picked him up on the waiver wire by hitting 3 home runs and had 7 RBIs this week. He may as well have picked up the nickname “Gallo Jr” and the Dodgers should be kicking themselves for letting him go.
Adolis Garcia
Adolis Garcia returns to the Who’s Hot list this week by making probably the catch of the year in extra innings on Wednesday. If this catch doesn’t win catch of the year, I don’t know what home run robbery web gem will.
El Bombi also has the second-most home runs among rookies in franchise history with 27. This will be a bright memory that Ranger fans will remember this season, and he’s not done yet.
Mike Foltynewicz
Mike Foltynewicz had a good outing Tuesday night getting 5 strikeouts and only allowing 2 hits. Even though he most likely won’t be with us next season, if he can string a couple more starts like this, someone will pick him up.
Jason Martin
He hit a huge, game-tying home run in the Rangers’ 9-8 extra innings loss to the Mariners on Thursday, as Texas was able to rally down big to force extras at seven runs a piece.
Afterthoughts
The offense that Ranger fans have seen this week at the major league level and Double-A level earlier in August has led me to the conclusion that the rebuild period won’t be a long one.

The smart thing to do for the rest of the year is to keep the prospects down in the minors for them to grow.
The only exception I would make to that is if one of them is just crushing like Justin Foscue or Sam Huff for example. I would like to see those players get a shot later near the end of the season.
I’ve also noticed that this past week against the Mariniers that the stands looked really bare. The team’s not great, but still, you’d expect maybe a bit more of a crowd.
But please go support the players for the remainder of the season. I know Jon Daniels traded fan favorite Joey Gallo away and fans are mad, but it’s important to go support the rookies that are currently playing with the Rangers. Especially the ones that will be part of the future.
