3 trade proposals for the Texas Rangers and Miami Marlins

Yes, the Marlins need outfield help. Yes, Garrett Cooper is an outfielder. I write about the Rangers though, not the Marlins. That’s their problem, too. Assuming they address their OF shortage and make Cooper and his two years of arbitration available, Texas should make a move.

Cooper has been a bit injury-prone throughout his five-year career. His most action came in 2019 when he hit .281 with 15 home runs in 107 games. He’s played in 105 games since and posted much of the same at .284 with…15 home runs. He has an enticing OPS+ of 115 for his career and would be an upgrade offensively for the Rangers just about anywhere in the grass.

As for what we send for Cooper…well given he has less than 800 plate appearances over five years and has a problem staying healthy, he won’t cost as much. It could theoretically be Wendzel instead of Hauver but I think they’d like to see what Trevor could develop into. Sherten Apostel tags along giving them corner infield help. and YEAH I ADDED THE CRIM REAPER. If you don’t know this rising bat then you should. He’s a hitting machine that pitchers, baseballs, and bats alike fear.

This is pretty heavy-handed by the Texas Rangers but I would not be outdone by our brethren at SoDoMojo and their offer. Cooper could be a valuable piece and resigned for cheap. He will be in relatively high demand on the trading block as well so this deal could be outdone. Regardless of signing Seiya Suzuki, the Texas Rangers should pursue Cooper.
