The 2015 Texas Rangers: Where are they now?

Where are they now? 2015 Texas Rangers bullpen

Shawn Tolleson was in his 2nd season in Texas.  Tolleson pitched 71.2 innings in 73 relief appearances as the closer for the Rangers.  Tolleson had a 6-4 record with a 2.99 ERA, and 35 saves.  Tolleson pitched one more season in Texas.  He became a free agent after the 2016 season and made several unsuccessful attempts at comebacks from Tommy John surgery.  Tolleson formally announced his retirement before the start of Spring Training in 2019.

Anthony Bass was in his first of two seasons as a relief pitcher for the Rangers.  In 33 games, Bass pitched 64.0 innings, had a record of 0-0, and a 4.50 ERA.  Bass pitched in Japan in 2016 before returning to make two relief appearances with Texas in 2017.  After leaving Texas, Bass pitched four seasons in four different organizations.  Last year, Bass made 70 appearances for Miami and is currently a member of the Marlins.

Keone Kela was a rookie relief pitcher for Texas in 2015.  In 68 games, Kela pitched 60.1 innings, had a record of 7-5, with a 2.39 ERA, and one save.  Kela pitched parts of three more seasons in Texas before he was traded to Pittsburgh.  Kela pitched parts of three seasons in Pittsburgh before signing as a free agent with San Diego.  Kela was granted free agency after the 2021 season and is currently a free agent.

Tanner Scheppers was in his 4th season with Texas in 2015.  He pitched 38.1 innings in 42 games, had a record of 4-1, and a 5.63 ERA.  Scheppers pitched two more seasons with Texas before being granted free agency at the end of the 2017 season.  Texas was the only team Scheppers pitched for in his MLB career.

Sam Freeman pitched one season in Texas.  In 54 relief appearances, Freeman pitched 38.1 innings, had a record of 0-0, and a 3.05 ERA.  Prior to the 2016 season, Freeman was purchased from the Rangers by Milwaukee.  After leaving Texas, Freeman pitched for four teams in five years.  Freeman underwent Tommy John surgery near the end of the 2020 season and missed all of 2021.  Freeman is currently a member of the Kansas City Royals.

Sam Dyson was traded to Texas prior to the trade deadline in 2015.  In 31 relief appearances, Dyson pitched 31.1 innings, had a record of 2-1, with a 1.15 ERA, and two saves.  Dyson pitched parts of two more seasons in Texas before he was traded to San Francisco.  Dyson pitched parts of three seasons with the Giants and was traded to Minnesota before the trade deadline in 2019.  Dyson pitched his final MLB game with the Twins in 2019 and is currently a free agent.

Spencer Patton was in his 2nd partial season with the Rangers in 2015.  In 27 relief appearances, Patton pitched 24.0 innings, had a record of 1-1, with a 9.00 ERA.  At the end of the season, Patton was traded to the Chicago Cubs.  In 2017, Patton signed to pitch in Japan and remained in Japan until the end of the 2020 season.  Patton returned to Texas for the 2021 season and remains a member of the Rangers bullpen.

Jake Diekman was traded to Texas prior to the trade deadline in 2015.  In 26 relief appearances, Diekman pitched 21.2 innings, had a record of 0-0, and a 2.08 ERA.  Diekman pitched parts of three more seasons in Texas.  Before the trade deadine in 2018, Diekman was traded to Arizona.  After leaving Texas, Diekman has pitched for three teams including the last three seasons in Oakland.  Now 35, Diekman is currently a free agent.

Neftali Feliz pitched his final season with the Rangers in 2015.  In 19.2 innings, Feliz had a 1-2 record, a 4.58 ERA, and six saves.  Feliz was released by the Rangers in July.  Since his release from the Rangers in 2015, Feliz has pitched for six different teams and is currently a free agent.
