Texas Rangers selected to host 2024 MLB All Star Game

The Texas Rangers and Globe Life Field will host the 2024 All-Star Game!

Rob Manfred made that announcement today at the conclusion of the owner’s meetings in New York. It will be the second time the Rangers organization has hosted the All Star Game, as The Ballpark in Arlington hosted the 1995 All Star game and fans saw a thrilling 3-2 NL win.

The Texas Rangers and Globe Life Field will host the 2024 All-Star Game

Rangers Owner Ray Davis had this to say in the press release announcing the All Star Game:

"With the opening of Globe Life Field and the incredible development that continues to take place around the park, Arlington is an ideal location to host Major League Baseball and the Midsummer Classic."

This is a great opportunity for the team to show off the improvements they have made to the area since the ballpark opened. that would include a hotel that is currently under construction and fan favorite Texas Live. It will bring in a great amount of revenue as well.

2024 is also going to be the season when the Rangers really announce themselves on the national stage. Players like Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Nathaniel Lowe, Josh Jung, Adolis Garcia, and potentially the pitchers they add this off-season could all be participants in the All Star game or other events. Prospects such as Evan Carter, Kumar Rocker, Brock Porter, and Anthony Gutiterez may be called on to participate in the Future’s Game that same weekend.

The Rangers as a team in 2024 expect to make the playoffs and be able to go on a deep run into October.

This will not be the first time MLB has called on Globe Life Field for a big event. In 2020, the stadium hosted the only baseball games where fans were allowed to attend during the NLCS and World Series. The Brett Phillips walk-off single in game four lives on to this day. The Dodgers won their first World Series since 1988 in that stadium.

Four years later, the eyes of the MLB world will turn once again to Globe Life Field for the All Star Game. In 2024 the Rangers will be hoping to host not only the All Star game, but also playoff games.

As part of the weekend the city will host the MLB Futures Game, the Celebrity Softball game, All Star Media Day, All Star game Workout Day, the Home Run Derby, All Star Red Carpet Show, and then finally the All Star Game. If the MLB Draft continues to be held at the location of the All Star game then that event will be held as well in Arlington.

It should be a good weekend to showcase the Texas Rangers and the new stadium. All of these events and more will take place from July 14-16th, 2024.
