3 MLB All-Stars who could be Rangers after the 2025 trade deadline

The Rangers will be buyers at the Trade Deadline. They might as well shoot for the best of the best.

The Texas Rangers post-All-Star Break has made it clear that they still aren't throwing in the towel winning their first two series with the potential to sweep the Athletics on Wednesday evening.

With that the mindset has shifted from how do get better for the future to what do they need right now to push for a postseason spot in October. On top of the wish list should be upgrades to their bullpen, alongside additional offensive weapons.

Not sure if it means they go all-in or find cheap options that are deemed just enough. The Rangers should still shoot high and what is higher than acquiring an All-Star caliber player?

3 MLB All-Stars who could be Rangers after the 2025 trade deadline

Hunter Goodman, COL

With the likelihood that Kyle Higashioka spends an extended period of time on the injured list after leaving Tuesday's contest with right hamstring tightness, Texas is going to need a more reliable option behind the dish than Jonah Heim.

Which takes us to the 25-76 Colorado Rockies and their All-Star backstop in 25-year-old Hunter Goodman. Goodman has been a revelation for Colorado this year, hitting .279 with 18 home runs, 56 RBIs, 18 doubles, four triples and an .839 OPS.

Goodman has plenty of contract control left, still not even in his arbitration eligibile years. Colorado might look at that and say no way but they could also look at it and think, time to get a big-time return. If the Rangers not only need a catcher for right now but for years in the future, how do you not at least put feelers out there.

Ryan O'Hearn, BAL

O'Hearn is the likely of the three on this list to be a Texas Ranger by the time August rolls around. A breakout season on an Orioles team that off worse than Texas this season, sitting last in the AL East at 44-56.

The left-handed first baseman/DH is slashing .280/.375/.453 with 12 homers, 36 RBIs, 14 doubles and an .828 OPS in 87 games for the O's. He is begging to be taken away from Baltimore's rough year, especially in his walk season.

It also means he'd be a rental for the final couple of months of the season. That opens up an opportunity for the Rangers to grab O'Hearn at a cheaper price.

Carlos Estevez, KC

Needing bullpen help, Texas could go after the once former division rival Angels' closer but this could be harder because Kansas City is in the postseason race as much as Texas is. They would be unlikely to part with their closer with that being the case.

Estevez, 32, is 4-3 with a 2.74 ERA, 35 strikeouts and 26 for 32 in saves this season while limiting opponents to a .214 batting average.

Texas currently has one of the best pitching staffs in Major League Baseball with four of their relievers with a 3.00 ERA or less. Estevez would be number five and slot in as a great eighth or ninth inning option for Bochy.
