The start to the 2025 Texas Rangers season has been a nightmare scenario. Truly nobody has stood out as an incredible bat outside of a few regaining old form.
With injuries hindering the key young stars, there are needs to perform now from veterans that are failing miserably. There are plenty of options in the system, but who can actually do it?
3 minor leaguers that could provide an offensive spark if called up to big leagues
Evan Carter
This is getting the obvious out of the way early. There isn't too much to elaborate on here that hasn't been said ad nauseam.
When Evan Carter is on, he can quite literally spark an offense to World Series winning abilities. He has done it before and hopefully can do it again.
He is slowly but surely getting back to form to begin the year in AAA. If he starts to show signs of heating up, the Rangers will surely have a quick trigger to get him back to the big league club.
He quickly became a fan favorite in 2023 and fans have refused to forget him. I would like to see him replace Leody Taveras in the near future and kick start the offense again.

Justin Foscue
Foscue might be the most forgotten about player in the organization but there is a clear need for an infielder to contribute.
Ezequiel Duran, Marcus Semien and Josh Jung have all majorly disappointed in vastly different ways. Where Duran and Semien have had horrific starts, Jung got hurt, although he has been on fire since returning last week in Chicago.
I was fairly shocked when Duran was called up when an injury to Jung happened because I think Foscue was the more ready prospect to potentially spark the offense. Foscue has displayed major bat-to-ball skills and power that has been a pleasant surprise while in the minor leagues but his call-up in 2024 season that featured a major injury and terrible 42 at-bat sample size where he got only a couple of hits.
Despite the bad 42 at-bat span in 2024, I think there is a major league bat in Foscue's future. If the middle infield can't figure it out, I love the idea of Foscue coming in to replace Duran and being the spark plug that either helps the infield out or pushes Semien to step it up.
Alejandro Osuna
Osuna is the least likely of the three to get called up anytime soon. As it stands, he is only 22 years old in Double-A and getting everyday at-bats.
He has gotten out to a slow start in Frisco to start the season and while this all may seem bad, he put on an outstanding display of all-around baseball during spring training. One that impressed pretty much everyone within the organization.
Alejandro Osuna keeps hitting. Here he hit a 102 mph fastball from Mason Miller into left field for a double.

His spring training was so good that fans were calling for him to outright make the 2025 Opening Day roster. While there wasn't a clear path then due to veterans, there is now one opening up due to poor play.
The Rangers are in desperate need for a steady bat and glove in center field and Osuna might be a future answer to the never ending problem the Rangers seem to have out there.
