With the recent move adding Wyatt Langford to the injured list, the Texas Rangers are now faced with an opportunity to open their playbook and get a few names a chance to showcase their talent over the next week or two.
These players will benefit the most from Langford's trip to IL
Ezequiel Duran, UT
The biggest winner in this situation is Duran, who is off to a spectacular start at the plate. Rangers' fans haven't seen this level of production from the 26-year-old since the 2023 season where he hit 14 home runs.
Already splitting time with Josh Smith over at second base in the first 24 games of the season, Duran will switch over to the everyday left field role while Langford is out. In 19 games, Duran has already hit a home run (something he didn't do in 2025) while driving in eight runs and four doubles.
Sam Haggerty, UT
Haggerty has been the biggest loser in terms of playing time to start the year but that is sort of a given with the introduction of Brandon Nimmo and the continued health of the rest of the outfield so far. Langford's injury drastically improves his playing time.
Having only recorded 15 at-bats this season, the 31-year-old Phoenix native got an at-bat late in Wednesday nights loss to Pittsburgh, which was only his seventh plate appearance since April 14 in Sacramento. Not only will this excite Haggerty but also hopefully improve on his tough .143 average to start the year.
Alejandro Osuna, OF
As the direct call-up to fill the hole left in the Rangers' 26-man roster, Osuna will get plenty of opportunities to make his presence known to his new skipper Skip Schumaker. A rough first half of Cactus League play and a seemingly small amount of playing time with Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, he was at a disadvantage to start the season. But 17 games with Triple-A Round Rock has translated to a 17-for-65 (.262) start with a home run, eight RBIs, 13 runs scored and nearly as many walks (10) as strikeouts (11).
While Duran is likely to get majority of Langford's reps in left field over the next two weeks, Osuna is going to be vital when it comes to needing to give Josh Smith or Duran a full day off.
