The Texas Rangers will frantically be searching for offense this offseason after two straight years of declining power and run scoring.

Not many additions have paid off for Texas over the past couple of seasons, dating back to Joc Pederson and Jake Burger. When they really started to see some boost in offensive production last year began when the Rangers added Rowdy Tellez to the big league roster in May.

In 50 games with the Rangers, Tellez hit .259 with a .772 OPS, six home runs, 22 RBIs five doubles and 30 hits while splitting his time at first base and designated hitter. Not only did he provide clutch offensive sparks from time-to-time, he also quickly became clubhouse and fan favorite.

3 reasons the Rangers should re-sign Rowdy Tellez for 2026

Tellez CRUSHED right-handed pitching

The 30-year-old was a masterful hitter against right-handed hitters in 2025, recording all 17 of his season total home runs and all 44 of his season total in RBIs against righties. Which makes sense when 262 of Tellez's 282 at-bats were against RHP.

As a team, the Rangers were bad offensively all-around, hitting .238 against right-handed pitching. While most of their production came against RHP, it has shifted over the last two seasons, hitting .261 against right-handed pitchers in 2023.

Rowdy had terrific numbers pinch-hitting

The other area that Tellez brings to a roster is his ability to thrive in pinch hitting spots. Last season, he hit .348 with three home runs and 11 RBIs a as a pinch hitter, including two with Texas on September 19 against Miami and September 28 against Cleveland.

There's a lot of value in a player that brings late, clutch performances with their team trailing or tied. Three of Tellez's highest average splits came in late/close (.283), tie game (.276) and within one run (.275).

Culture is as important as on-field performance

On the list of things the Rangers need to do this offseason is put a culture in place with the addition of Skip Schumaker as the team's new skipper.

Tellez, an eight-year MLB veteran has been an integral piece in several playoff teams over his career and you can tell the talent light-hearted play and passion for the game makes a difference in the attitude during the game and throughout a long 162-game season.
