A lot rides on the success of the Texas Rangers after two straight unsuccessful seasons where the offense played a big role in the downfalls, Texas made more than just a handful of personnel changes this winter to hopefully not repeat such a misfortune.

These three players, who have seen better days in their career, are in desperate need for early season success or risk not having a job.

These 3 Rangers will get cut from the roster by May

Jalen Beeks, LHP

While this one remains less likely, Beeks is the newcomer to the Rangers' bullpen, signing with the club during the final weeks of spring training.

Left-handed pitching is invaluable, especially to a bullpen but Texas also has three southpaws in Beeks, Tyler Alexander and Jacob Latz. The 32-year-old Beeks spent the 2025 season with Arizona, recording a 3.77 ERA out of 61 appearances.

Beeks got into the first game of the season, relieving Nathan Eovaldi in the fifth innings and went 1.1 scoreless innings and striking out two Philadelphia hitters. While it's a long shot he goes south and gets released, it's more likely it happens to him over Alexander or Latz.

Ezequiel Duran, UT

Let's not get fooled by Duran's electric spring training, where he batted .283 with a handful of home runs and 10 RBIs. It earned Skip Schumaker's trust and he got a spot on the Opening Day roster.

While his performance is fun to see as a Rangers' fan, we've experienced two straight years of underperformance from the 26-year-old utility man and we aren't quite sold yet. Last season he made history recording 200+ regualr season at-bats without a home run.

One of the four prospects Texas got in return from the Yankees in the 2021 Joey Gallo trade, fans want to see Duran be successful like he was in the first half of the 2023 season but it's hard to count on him.

Joc Pederson, DH/1B

Easy to say that the Pederson experiment in Arlington has been nothing short of a failure as it enters year two. There has been maybe 10 at-bats his entire tenure with the Rangers that we can confidently say were positive outcomes.

After a .181 average in 2025 and a .175 spring average in 2026, fans are sick and tired of Pederson and the fact he's just been eating up a roster spot and nearly $18.5 million of salary cap. So much to the point we were praising him for hitting a opposite field homer in the final exhibition game earlier this week, the first longball of spring.

Nothing short than a spectacular first couple months of his 2026 campaign will spell the end for the 33-year-old DHs time in Texas.
