5 Texas Rangers stats from May that make you cringe

The May numbers, as bad as they were, still don't do it justice to how the month went for the Texas Rangers.

Well, the dreaded month of May has finally ended for the Texas Rangers and I am sure the players are just as happy as the fans are to leave it in the past.

In 28 games this month, the Rangers finished with an 12-16 record, which was the worst win-loss monthly record of not only the 2025 season but also one of the worst of last year's season.

For a greater context of just how bad the month of May was for the Texas Rangers this season.

5 Texas Rangers' stats from May that make you cringe

Number of runs scored: 93 (27th in MLB)

When you have trouble scoring runs, you aren't going to win many games. That lesson could not have been any clearer for the Texas Rangers in the month of May. With the third least runs scored in the entire league this month, the Rangers are just one of five teams yet to crack the 200 run scored mark this season. With their loss Saturday afternoon, the Rangers have also been shutout 8 times in 2025.

How many times Rangers' hitters have struck out: 229

Can't produce runs if you aren't getting on base. Can't get in base if you aren't at least putting the ball in play and the Rangers are showcasing that with their strikeout numbers. Now, it's not bottom five level bad but I mean, come on, you can't strike out 229 times in a month, have one of the worst batting averages and on-base percentages and expect to win.

Pitcher's ERA: 2.98 (2nd in MLB)

This one stat is a positive but the reason it's on this list is because the results of the games make you cringe. Due to other stats on this list, the team is 28-31 despite having the second best ERA throughout the month. Then if you dive deeper you'd see, their full season ERA of 3.13 is still one of the best in the entire league.

Run differential: -4

I bring up run differential to make their performance that much more frustrating. As a team, we've the Rangers fail to score runs but also fail to allow runs, reference the last stat on pitcher's ERA. With that in mind, this team is accurately sitting three games below .500 but it still doesn't take away the frustration.

On-Base Percentage: .285 (29th in MLB)

The game of baseball is simple. Scoring runs, wins games. To score runs you have to get on base and the Rangers were the second-worst team this month in that category. It starts with only drawing 78 walks this month , which is 6 more than April, but still pretty bad. They also had the least hits in MLB in May as well as the third worst RBI total (90).
