The Rangers are holding their breath as Corey Seager suffers another setback

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager misses more time as hamstring issue continues to linger.

It's hardly surprising that Corey Seager is missing Monday's game for the Texas Rangers. After all, it's clear at this point that when the team brought him back from the IL, he hadn't recovered from his hamstring pull all the way. The question now is just how many games a week does the star shortstop have to miss before it is healed? And a better question is, will he head back to the IL if he continues to miss several days a week?

We should have been more skeptical when he returned as soon as he did. After all, Seager isn't a young guy anymore, and the hamstring pull has been something he's dealt with a little too often in the last few years. But we wanted to believe the Rangers knew he was indeed ready to go. It turns out he isn't and wasn't. Or, even worse, he recovered and hurt again, and it hurt worse than before.

Corey Seager’s hamstring injury raises fresh concerns for Rangers’ lineup stability

Whatever's going on, it's not good, as the Texas Rangers confirmed with Monday's lineup that Corey Seager will miss his second straight game. He also sat out Sunday. He missed two games at the end of last week due to the hamstring.

The concern over Seager was illustrated quite nicely by the Rangers' lineup on Monday. In addition to one of the best hitting shortstops in the game, Bruce Bochy was without Jonah Heim at catcher and Josh Smith in the lineup at all. In their place are Ezequiel Duran (.150 in 20 PAs this season) and Tucker Barnhart, who did get 3 hits in one game but is otherwise widely known as one of the worst hitters in the major leagues.

Yes, the Texas Rangers should be able to beat the Colorado Rockies without those three players. This is more about an offense that has had some truly terrible runs. Wondering what's going on with Corey Seager simply isn't a great place to be, just as the team is back in the thick of the AL West race.
