Corey Seager came into the weekend series for the Texas Rangers against the Seattle Mariners having one of the worst Junes of his career. It appears that as the calendar moves closer to July, he’s wanting to put the month behind him and move forward. He demonstrated his desire to reboot his season by putting himself into Texas’ record books.

The Rangers lost two-of-three to the M’s but it wasn’t from a lack of trying from Seager. He had a very good weekend. The kind of weekend that, had things gone differently in the games, would be the stuff of legends. And while there are few people who want to remember two extra inning losses, the star shortstop had himself a weekend.

In fact, Corey Seager, who entered Friday’s game slashing .169/.326/.239/.565 in June, blasted three home runs against Seattle. He also walked five times and drove in six runs. Yes, it is a very small sample size but slashing .300/.529/1.200/1.729 while only striking out once in three games is why the shortstop will eventually be considered one of the best to every play the position for the Texas Rangers.

According to Rangers broadcaster Jered Sandler, Seager’s efforts put him in the record book. The shortstop tied a team record with three straight games with a home run and at least one walk.

Seager is in good company, considering the other Rangers to do this are Joey Gallo (three times), Alex Rodriguez, Juan Gonzalez, Jeff Burroughs, and Brian Downing. The streak also is the longest in the Major Leagues this season.

Seager now has a chance to try and make a run at the MLB record. The Texas Rangers star has the team record in his mitts, if he can manage to get a homer and a walk in two more consecutive games, he’ll tie the great Babe Ruth for the Majors’ record.
