Eugenio Suarez may have just dealt a big blow to a Rangers' rival's deadline plans

Just hours after the Texas Rangers got the news that one of their potential trade targets was removed from the board, the club might have just seen one of their chief rivals take a massive blow as well.

Eugenio Suarez has long been one of the hottest names on the hot stove market, with the Seattle Mariners considered one of the teams pursuing the slugging third baseman the most. However, after Monday night, there is some doubt as to whether he'll be available and healthy when the trade deadline rolls around.

In the ninth inning of the Arizona Diamondbacks game against the Detroit Tigers, Suarez was hit in the hand with a fastball. The third baseman could be seen hopping around and holding his hand after he got hit and was eventually taken out of the game. Needless to say the Mariners as well as other Texas Rangers rivals for the Wild Card got very nervous, very quickly.

There simply aren't that many players at the hot corner that are putting up the numbers that Suarez has this season. Slashing .247/.319/.579/.898, he's already got 36 homers and is leading the NL in RBI with 87.

While Arizona hasn't signaled they're fulling leaning into selling, they did trade first baseman Josh Naylor to the Mariners last week. That is one of the reasons Seattle was thought to be a front runner for Suarez as it was expected they could find another deal with the club they'd already come to terms with.

Between Kansas City Royals pitcher Kris Bubic being shut down for the season, Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase suspended for an unknown period, and now Suarez possibly being hurt, it's been a wild trade deadline already, and the Texas Rangers haven't come close to making a deal yet.
