Entering the second full week of spring training action, the Texas Rangers have still yet to see a couple of their high-level contributors for the season in Cactus League play but that all could change in a matter of days.

Jacob deGrom and Brandon Nimmo, both completely healthy, have been taking a slow track to ramp up for the 2026 season. According to manager Skip Schumaker though, expect to see them finally take some spring training reps "very soon."

Slow and steady wins the race for Rangers' deGrom, Nimmo

Taking the approach from last spring that saw deGrom win AL Comeback Player of the Year, the 37-year-old DeLand, Florida native decided to again ease into spring training action and

While there's no exact date announced for deGrom to take the hill in the Cactus League, he's been ramping up on the backfields and recently threw a 30 pitch side session. However, once he does take the mound, expect the two-time Cy Young winner to get at least three or four starts before the team breaks camp at the end of March.

As for Nimmo, he usually takes a slow pace in spring, having not played in a spring game until February 28 last season, March 3 the season prior and three springs ago it wasn't until March 12 he got spring training reps.

No need to worry Rangers' fans, none of these two delays have been injury related. Nimmo has been active in the clubhouse and during fielding and hitting sessions on the backfields of the team's spring training complex in Surprise.

Bet everyone can agree that if deGrom and Nimmo feel more comfortable slow playing it to make a season-lasting impact for Texas in 2026, fans will be all for it.
