The Rangers were going for a three-game sweep at Camden Yards on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles. They had to feel optimistic with ace Nathan Eovaldi on the mound and a hot-hitting lineup backing him up.

Unfortunately, former Ranger stalwart centerfielder, Leody Taveras, had other ideas and helped the O's salvage the final game of the set, winning convincingly, 8-3.

The Rangers parted ways with Taveras last season, and Baltimore signed him in November

The Rangers were done with the Tavares experiment in 2025 and let the underachieving outfielder go. He finished the year out with the Seattle Mariners before hooking on with the Orioles in November on a one-year $2 million deal for the 2026 season.

On Wednesday, Tavares got some sweet revenge against a struggling Eovaldi, tagging him for two hits, including a two-run double in the third that short-hopped off the right field wall, putting the O's up 4-0 at the time. He went 2-for-2 against his former teammate before Evo was pulled in the fifth after giving up eight hits and six earned runs.

He also collected walks from Tyler Alexander and rookie right-hander Carter Baumler, finishing 2-for-2 with a run , two RBIs and reaching base on all four of his plate appearances.

Taveras had only one at-bat all season before getting to Eovaldi

As a utility man for the Orioles, Taveras entered Wednesday with just one at-bat that resulted in a strikeout. Just about every Oriole got involved in hit parade off Eovalid, who is still searching to find his groove to start the year. With his performance, Taveras is now hitting .667 with an .800 OBP.

was getting to Eovaldi as he continues to search for his best stuff to start the season and Taveras got in on the hit parade early, raising his early season average to .667 and his OBP to .800.

Taveras obviously still has a lot of friends on the Rangers' roster, so he probably enjoyed getting to hand out some ribbing to his former teammates. Still, the Rangers got the last laugh by winning the series and finishing with a successful 4-2 road trip to open the year.
