The Texas Rangers officially parted ways with first baseman Blaine Crim, sending the once heralded power hitter to the Colorado Rockies on a waiver claim.

Crim has done well at Triple-A Round Rock, and the organization has a clear path to playing first base at the major league level, but it won't be in Arlington as the big right-handed hitter is now packing his bags and heading west.

Crim takes an impressive stat line with him to the Pacific Coast League

In 378 plate appearances with Round Rock, Crim slashed .284/.373/.515 with 18 home runs, 71 RBIs, and three stolen bases. He was the minor league player of the month in May and was consistently one of the best players for the squad all season.

He will now head on to the Pacific Coast League, where he will suit up for the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate, Albuquerque. With the Rockies in complete rebuild mode, Crim's chances for a late-season call-up seem likely given the dearth of talent.

The Rangers never seemed serious about giving Crim a shot at the major league roster

In a brief stint with the big club in early May, Crim went hitless in 11 at-bats, managing to reach base just once on a walk. It is such a small sample size that it is impossible to know what kind of player Crim could have been for the team.

The organization has openings at the corner infield spots, and there is currently no long-term answer at 1B in particular. With Joc Pederson's ongoing struggles and Rowdy Tellez filling in on a short-term basis, it seems like the team would have wanted a guy who was doing as well as Crim was in the fold moving forward.
