Is it really the trade deadline if wild, unconfirmed rumors don't pop up and shock Major League Baseball, if only for a handful of minutes.

That's exactly what happened on Thursday when a handful of rumors reported by MLB insider Mike Rodriguez that Rangers' postseason hero Adolis Garcia was traded to the New York Mets. This prompted a variety of social media reactions among the fanbase, ranging from shock to sadness.

For the next 20 minutes fans reacted with an outpouring of fan edits, thank you posts and a lot of freaking out tweets asking for anyone to please confirm or deny the rumors.

It didn't seem to unbelievable of a move as Garcia was rumored as one of the most likely Rangers' trade candidates heading into the trade deadline. What was shocking of was that the Rangers were on a heck of a run lately and have closed the gap in the postseason run. Trading Garcia would not have made any sense anymore.

Garcia, 32, first arrived in Texas via trade in 2019 but it wasn't an immediate hit. He was then placed on waivers before the 2021 season but went unclaimed. Later that year, Garcia made his Rangers debut and from there became an instant fan favorite.

He will forever be known as "El Bombi" and the legendary 2023 postseason, including a 15 RBI ALCS MVP performance and hitting the walk-off home run during game one of the 2023 World Series.

That is a lot to be remebered for and despite the struggles over the last year and a half, fans were still sad at the possbility of seeing him depart Texas. Thankfully, fans won't have to worry about it, as it was quickly confirmed to not be true by multiple reporters, including team reporters Evan Grant and Kennedi Landry.

The trade deadline wasn't a complete wash for the Rangers. While a lot of top relief arms came and went, Texas still went out and traded for left-hander Danny Coulombe from the Minnesota Twins.
