Earlier this week the Texas Rangers reunited with lefty Jordan Montgomery, who helped guide the organization to their first World Series title in 2023.

The 33-year-old North Carolina native, signed a two-year deal with Arizona prior to the 2024 season and struggled. His future very much in doubt going into last year, Montgomery underwent Tommy John surgery after tearing his UCL.

Riding on familiarity and love for the state of Texas and the DFW Metroplex, Montgomery hopes he regain his old form.

Despite still rehabbing from Tommy John and not set to make a return to the mound until after the All-Star break, Montgomery officially reported to Surprise on Friday.

With Texas, he pitched in 11 regular season games to the tune of a 2.79 ERA, 58 strikeouts, 13 walks and a 1.09 WHIP in 67.2 innings. He also made six appearances during the playoff run, including a crucial 2.1 innings in relief in the Rangers' 11-4 ALCS Game 7 win over Houston.

While speaking to reporters in camp on Saturday, Montgomery said he was happy to be back with the guys. One of those guys is his former rotation-mate Nathan Eovaldi, who was the second half of the duo that dominated the MLB postseason back in 2023.

Montgomery is another potentially great addition to an already dominate Rangers rotation that feature Eovaldi, Jacob deGrom, Jack Leiter, MacKenzie Gore, Jacob Latz and Kumar Rocker. Texas is also set to get Cody Bradford back from injury in May.
