One reported reason the Texas Rangers traded star infielder Marcus Semien to the New York Mets for outfielder Brandon Nimmo was due to "tension" between Semien and shortstop Corey Seager.
However, it appears Nimmo is coming from a clubhouse that didn't get along, which could lead to more issues within the Rangers' clubhouse.
“What [the Mets have] done tells you how big a s— show their clubhouse was,” said one rival executive who was granted anonymity for his candor, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon. "The guessing is over. It was a disaster.”

In addition to trading Nimmo, the Mets dealt Jeff McNeil to the Athletics and didn't re-sign closer Edwin Diaz, who signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and first baseman Pete Alonso, who signed with the Baltimore Orioles.
Of course, we as fans don't know Nimmo personally, but the fact that he, as a veteran, comes from a clubhouse that didn't get along is slightly concerning. If he ends up helping the Rangers return to the postseason, fans won't care what goes on behind the scenes. But if the team struggles to build chemistry, fingers could be pointed at Nimmo.
Multiple reports have suggested Nimmo doesn't get along with star Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor, which could be a red flag for the Rangers.
"Brandon is a very proud player," said former Mets reliever Adam Ottavino on his YouTube channel last month. "Brandon got pissed when they did a Yankees-Mets team a couple years ago, and [SNY insider] Andy Martino had [Alex] Verdugo as the left fielder and not Nimmo. Like, I saw Nimmo go at Andy Martino in the hallway about that. And I was like, 'Damn, you really read the paper like that? You care about what the talking heads say that much? That's surprising to me."
"Also, I don’t think he liked any of the talk about Lindor being the [Mets] captain," Ottavino added. "Just based on the article I read. I don't know any of that on the inside... I think [Nimmo is] a little proud of a player."
Additionally, sports radio talk show host Mike Francesa claimed that political differences caused tension between Nimmo and Lindor.
Let's just hope Nimmo does his job in a Rangers uniform, and he puts his pride aside for the team's benefit.
