If you're a New York Mets fan, you're more than likely planning to watch your favorite team take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium at 6:45 CST tonight. But if you have an extra streaming device and a way to watch, you should tune in to the Texas Rangers' game against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards at 5:35 CST tonight. At the very least, you could watch the Rangers/Orioles matchup for an hour before the Mets game begins.
If you're a Mets fan, you may be wondering why you'd care about a game between two American League teams. Well, if you've been paying attention, you probably aren't wondering.
Mets fans will see several familiar faces in Rangers/Orioles game tonight
During the offseason, the Mets traded long-time outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers for second baseman Marcus Semien. Even more notably, Mets all-time home run leader Pete Alonso signed a five-year, $155 million deal with the Orioles in Dec. after seven seasons with New York.
Nimmo's had a strong start with his new team, going 6-for-17 with one home run, three RBI, one walk and a stolen base over four games.

Meanwhile, Alonso went 4-for-15 with two walks and an RBI during his first four games with the Orioles.
Now, here's what makes today's matchup between Baltimore and Texas even more of a must-watch event for Mets fans. Right-handed pitcher Jacob deGrom, who had a 2.52 ERA and 1,607 strikeouts in 1,326 innings across nine seasons (2014 to 2022) with the Mets, will make the start on the mound for Texas tonight.
Rangers' Jacob deGrom scheduled to make first start of season after injury scare
DeGrom was scratched from his first scheduled start of the season against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday because of a sore neck. Luckily, deGrom, 37, is clearly fine. Otherwise, he wouldn't be scheduled to start today.
DeGrom's career with the Rangers, who signed the former Mets ace to a five-year, $185 million contract in Dec. 2022, began in a way New York fans were all too familiar with; the righty made just six starts in 2023 and three starts in 2024 due to undergoing Tommy John surgery.
DeGrom finally had a full season with the Rangers in 2025, and he showed everyone why he's getting paid as much as he is. In 30 starts last year, deGrom posted a 2.97 ERA with 185 strikeouts across 172 2/3 innings.
While it may be painful for some Mets fans to see a game with deGrom, Alonso and Nimmo donning different teams' uniforms, it should at least be worth watching for a bit.
